About Me

ABOUT US

Ahoy mate, I’m Larry and I love our ‘ Great Lakes, Inland Waterways’ and Oceans. When not rescuing ships in distress, I’m Ship’s Carpenter of Ghost Coast Legends, an artesian workshop crafting nautical and nature décor for your ‘HOME port of call’. My wife, Jan and I are originally from Upstate New York (near Great Lake Ontario), vacationed frequently on Cape Cod, the Chesapeake Bay (to help Uncle Art run his crab line), and on Florida’s west coast (to see Mom). In 2005, we moved to Colington Island on the Outer Banks of North Carolina (survived four hurricanes), and then relocated to Ormond-by-the Sea, on Florida’s east coast (to enjoy a few more). From these experiences, we learned that each of these regions has their own unique maritime heritage. As an avid woodworker, I chose to reflect these regional heritages via the traditional craft of building Ships-in-Bottles. Today, I have SIBs in a number of waterman and maritime museums…sixteen at last count. I’ve also written five ‘Do It Yourself’ books on ship-in-bottle building. If you would like to know more, click on the following ‘Sending a Ship to Sea’ article link. I’m glad you stopped by…happy to meet you.
